Happy Easter

Happy Easter......This is my last year to pull out the Easter Basket for my Daughter, she is heading on to an out of state University to continue on with her Masters.  I am so proud.....

She will have to receive the gift packages and put together the basket her way.

I made this basket over 20 years ago, and I think before I hand it over to her, I will add a new trim of crochet lace around the cross stitch border.

I am going to try my hand at making some bakers twine and sew a blanket stitch and then a crochet shell stitch.

Today will be a quiet and reflective day.

Even though we have such separate lives, I am going to miss this kid.....

Yarn Bowl

Wow, I was so wordless for Wednesday that I didn't even post a picture.

I love the thrift stores.  I love finding a great bargain.

I picked this up for $2.99 to use as a yarn bowl.  I knew it wasn't big enough to hold my 4 ply but it is perfect for my crochet threads.

If I can only figure out how to get the calcium build up off, I will be thrilled.

Wire Hanger

I accomplished 10 things out of my 13.

Made my day.

In the process of hanging clothes, I found a way to keep those spaghetti straps from slipping off the hanger.

Laundry Detergent

I am so routine about laundry on Saturday mornings.  I don't know why, but that is when it has to be done.

Today, I need to make some more detergent, and I am sure there are many recipes out there that are the same or similar, but here it goes:

I bar of Ivory
1/2 cup of Borax
1/2 cup of Baking Soda, most recommend washing soda, but I don't need to see suds to know my clothes are getting clean.

Grate the bar of soap and mix all the other ingredients and you have detergent.

Place one tablespoon of detergent in the washer, fill with water to give the detergent time to dissolve and put your laundry in and you are set to go.

You can adjust the amount by the size of load or if you have really soiled clothes.

Simple right?

General Mills

I do not know about you, but I am a big coupon person.  If it isn't on sale or I don't have a coupon for it, I don't buy it.  I love the General Mills site.  Food coupons, recipes, and contest.

Bottle Ring Bunny

No, I am not mad.....Mad Mondays are the day I try and challenge myself to do more than what I think I can possibly handle.  I make a to do list which consist of about 28 items.  Do I ever get them all done, no.  Maybe I should make them easy so I can, but then where is the challenge?

It does help me organize and work effectively and even consider out sourcing.

To give one day per week to do all those things you don't like or want to do and, to have 6 days to not think or deal with them, seems like a pretty good trade off for me.

Paying bills, organizing or cleaning things that you have put off that now have become a major event, taxes, scrubbing grout, making phone calls, oil changes.....You know what I am talking about.

One day per week is all you have, until the next week, so planning accordingly is the key for me.

One of the items on my list today is to make 5 bottle ring bunnies for an Easter surprise for workers.  I only have 30 to make. (ha).  Break it down to smaller amounts each each week and it doesn't seem to be as many.

I like these because they can be used as magnets, pins, napkin rings, gift tags.

Doesn't the face look like a moose?  I need to work on this.....

Crochet Wash Cloth

Soulful Sundays for me are about enjoying what makes you who you are.

I am currently working on our Easter basket.

We are not much into candy.

I picked up a crochet book several weeks back.  It has many different stitches and I vowed to try all.

I have made my first ribbed wash cloth.  So easy, but I love the texture that it has.

Crochet Wash Cloth

Chain until you have the length that you desire.

Half double crochet into each chain.

*Chain one, turn.

Half double crochet into the back loop of each half double crochet.*

Continue process from * until you have the length you desire.

Single crochet around the edges to give it a nice finish....

I save everything, so when we travel of course, I don't leave those soaps behind that I paid for.  I bring them home, put them in my slow cooker and mull them.  Add spices and/or essential oils.  Wrap them in cellophane and you have a gift.
